MASSAGE THERAPY COURSE
This course is designed to introduce students to basic manual applications of massage therapy for general relaxation. In this foundation of massage practice module, we will focus on the knowledge required as a massage therapist. Students will learn safe and appropriate biomechanical skills, hygiene standards, patient handling, table setup, and draping techniques as they develop their palpation and tactile techniques.
This course of study is based on the principles of Swedish Massage, providing the solid foundation for other massage modalities to build upon. The course offers hands-on practice and theory which utilizes verbal, written, visual, and hands-on instructions throughout the classroom. The students will refine their hands-on skills, advance their knowledge and techniques to the next level, and build the confidence necessary for them to succeed in their new career.
Upon completion of 6 weeks, the students will have been fully trained, evaluated, and approved on
their technical abilities and will have achieved the academic (theory) portion of the course. After graduation from the course, it is strongly recommended that our students take the licensing certification exams to be prepared to meet future requirements.
In advanced Massage Therapy, this requires in-depth knowledge of Human Anatomy with special understanding of the Muscular and Skeletal System. This knowledge enables a therapist to construct
a care plan based on a patient's medical history and personal preferences. A massage therapist must possess physical strength, stamina, and dexterity, particularly in the hands and arms.
